Apply for a licence
The Commission, as the authority responsible for regulating the telecommunications sector in Solomon Islands, issues:
- Service licences in accordance with Part 5 of the Telecommunications Act 2009;
- Radio spectrum licences in accordance with Part 7 of the Act.
Before you apply
Read the two pages that describe what you are applying for:
- Service licences — the class licence under which most service providers operate, and individual licences issued in special circumstances.
- Radio spectrum licensing — required separately whenever your service uses radio frequencies or radio equipment.
Equipment your service uses must also meet the technical rules and standards prescribed by the Commission — see equipment approval.
If you are not sure whether you need a licence at all, contact the Commission before applying.
How to apply
Applications are made to the Commission’s Regulatory Resources Unit. Contact us with a description of the service you intend to provide and the frequencies or equipment you intend to use, and the Commission will advise on the application process, the supporting documentation required, and any applicable fees.
